The Great Fashion Fast of May

Oopsie on the gap in posting. I’ve been wrapping up the school year and sending the ‘Dores on their way to magical summer destinations.

In a shocking turn of events I have realized that I have too much clothing. Okay, well not shocking at all but humor me.

After an in depth frock review and massive donations I think that I have every piece of clothing I could possible ever need in my closet right now. In order to prove this to myself I have resolved to not shop in the month of May.

“Say what?” Oh, yes I said it. There will not be any shopping in May (at least not from my own bank account). I visit VA in May and sometimes mom enjoys purchasing clothing for me BUT I will not request this favor. That might seem like a cop out but if I tell my mom I’m not shopping she will wonder why and that will be a 2-hour long conversation that I don’t want to have so…as a compromise if I happen to be gifted clothes at home then I will add another day to the fast. Deal? “Back off me, bro?”

Goals

1. Spend less money.

2. Appreciate what I have already.

3. Improve my remixing skills.

4. Spend less time thinking about how I look.

5. Accomplish a goal.

Please support me and don’t invite me on random shopping sprees around town especially not at the newly reopened Opry Mills Outlets or the new J.Crew in Cool Springs. No, please don’t do that or I’ll put my fingers in my ears and exclaim, “la la la la la la la.” I will totally do that, promise.

Don’t get it twisted. I’ll still be cute ;).

I walk around the school hallways and look at the people. I look at the teachers and wonder why they’re here. If they like their jobs. Or us. And I wonder how smart they were when they were fifteen. Not in a mean way. In a curious way. It’s like looking at all the students and wondering who’s had their heart broken that day, and how they are able to cope with having three quizzes and a book report on top of that. Or wondering who did the heart breaking. And wondering why. Especially since I know that if they went to another school, the person who had their heart broken would have had their heart broken by somebody else, so why does it have to be so personal.

One of my all-time favorite books. Can’t wait to see the movie! The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky (via creatingaquietmind)

Listening Room

I have three CDs to purchase. Yep, I still purchase CDs. Chuckle it up if you like. Totes fine, I just enjoy owning music.

1. Jason Mraz- “Love is Four Letter Word”, Going to see him in August at Bridgestone. I have been obsessed with his voice since college. “Waiting on My Rocket to Come” is still one of my favorite albums ever, right up there with “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” and Fiona Apple’s “Tidal”.

2. Carrie Underwood “Blown Away”, Missing her at CMAFest this summer but I’m sure she’ll come around again and I’ll be there :). Obsessed with her! The album is streaming for FREE on iTunes for the rest of this week.

3. Speaking of Fiona Apple, I will be seeing her at the Ryman in July. Gotta get her new stuff as well.

That is all for now. My ears and feet are quite excited!

Me, Tracy, and Jen volunteering for the St. Jude Country Music Marathon in Nashville, TN. St. Jude is the first official benefactor of the CMM. The race raised over $700,000 for St. Jude. Super proud of the Nashville and Vanderbilt Tri Deltas as well as the Sigma Nus for working hard and having fun at the first water stop of the race at the Frist Museum. We cheered those runners on with great enthusiasm. So proud of everyone involved in this event. H2O Distribution is a science and I think we did it quite well :).
